Thanks to eEuroparts, I present you with one of their first articles on the legendary Volvo Hatchback the C30. The C30 was introduced in 2007 and discontinued in 2013. Today, we will be replacing the cabin air filter in this 2008 C30 Version 2.0. This how-to guide can be followed for all C30 models from 2007-2013. There are a few types of Volvo C30 cabin air filters on eEuroparts.com, with MANN as the OES brand. This particular filter is charcoal activated, to assist in even better cabin filtering. The air filter for the C30 is located to the right of the gas pedal behind the carpeting. While it may be accessed without removing the gas pedal, you will spend less time removing the gas pedal than struggling leaving it in place, since it is electronic and has no physical linkages. Only a few bolts hold it on.
Volvo C30 Cabin Air Filter DIY
Removing the electrical connector is optional. There are three 10mm nuts holding the throttle pedal assembly. One on the bottom, and two on the top.

After removing the nuts, move the gas pedal out of the way. Here, I wedged the pedal under the brake pedal leaving the electrical connector connected.
Pull the carpeting back, and we can now see the cabin air filter housing cover. A single white plastic thumbscrew (or wingnut, or flair nut depending on your locale) holds the airbox cover on. You may need pliers to break this loose. Note: On some 2008 and older models, one or two bolts may be holding this cover on. After removing this, simply push the cover to the firewall while pulling it towards the brake pedal.
Pull and remove the air filter, Note the arrows on the top for the air flow! This is vital for quiet operation of the fan motor. In this instance, the direction of the air flow points to the rear seats.
As you can see, this C30 was well overdue for a filter change.
To reinstall your Volvo C30 cabin air filter, simply reverse the process. Utilize the shape of the air filter to refit it into the box. It is a tight fit to remove and replace this part, it has to be to make a good seal. This whole process should take less than an hour. That’s it! Thank for tuning in!
